Would you like to get Involved in CANA Credit Union?
If you are a member of CANA Credit Union, you are eligible to apply to join the Board of Directors or to become a Liaison Officer.
The Board and the Committees
The Board of Directors of CANA have responsibility for the general control, direction and
management of the affairs of the Credit Union and is accountable to the general membership of
CANA. Setting policy and providing direction in its overall operation. The Board provides oversight,
due diligence and strategic direction and it is essential that the Directors have the skills and
expertise to carry out these responsibilities.
Eligibility
In general each Board member must have the ability to act in the best interest of the Credit Union
and to operate as a team at Board level. Each board member must have willingness and time to
serve and must also possess personal integrity and the highest ethical standards and financial
soundness.
The specific duties and responsibilities of the Board of Directors and Committees are set out in:
- The Credit Union Acts
- Regulations to the Act.
- Directives of the Department of Finance.
- The Credit Unions registered rules
- The policy manuals of the credit union
Liaison Officers
CANA has liaison officers in each revenue building to help to inform members and potential members about the benefits of CANA.
We work with the liaison officers to plan office visits, promotion and to provide any support for the role.
